The wine enthusiast has been increasingly in the spotlight recently, thanks to a new movie, Viktor, a new autobiography, and several headline-making interviews. Last month, the My Father the Hero actor admitted in a chat with French magazine So Film that he can drink up to 14 bottles of wine a day.

"When I'm bored, I drink," the 65-year-old told the mag. Depardieu said he tries to lay off the booze during "occasional compulsory moments of abstinence and after undergoing bypass surgery, and also because of cholesterol and stuff, " but added that he's "not going to die. Not now. I still have energy."

Then, over the weekend, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported that in the actor's new autobiography, It Happened Like That (Ca C'est Fait Comme Ca), he claims to have worked as a "rent boy" when he was just 10 years old, performing sexual favors for cash. According to the paper, Depardieu wrote, "I've known since I was very young that I please homosexuals."

In another part of the book, the Green Card actor discusses his drinking habits, reportedly writing: "I'm obsessed with the racket in my body, the beating of my heart, the gurgling of my intestines, my joints cracking …It's become a phobia to the point that if I'm alone in a hotel, I must drink so as not to hear it, so as not to go mad from it. I can't get to sleep unless I'm dead drunk."
